Our client, a leading organisation in the Defence and Security sector, is seeking a Software Technical Lead to join its engineering team in Farnborough. This permanent, full-time onsite role focuses on secure digital design, embedded systems and software development for government and defence applications. Key Responsibilities:Act as the technical authority for software development across secure digital design solutionsLead software architecture, implementation and technical delivery for embedded systems and user applicationsDefine and continuously improve software development lifecycles, processes and engineering toolsetsProvide architectural guidance, with particular focus on system integration and technical problem-solvingImplement quality governance, stage-gated peer reviews and software design verification testingSupport sustaining engineering activities, including complex software issues, production defects and component obsolescenceMentor and coach software engineers, supporting professional development and identifying skills and training requirementsCollaborate with systems engineers and project managers to support technical progress and delivery against project milestonesJob Requirements:Significant experience in software engineering, technical leadership and the full systems lifecycleDegree in Software Engineering or a closely related technical disciplineStrong experience with C and C++ for embedded systems, microcontrollers and Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)Understanding of software architecture, system integration and design verificationExperience defining software development processes, engineering toolsets and quality frameworksKnowledge of engineering governance, design review metrics and high-assurance software standardsFamiliarity with secure coding practices and technologies such as RustProven ability to mentor and develop engineers in a collaborative, technically focused environmentUnited Kingdom sole nationality and an active UK Security Check (SC) clearance, or the ability to obtain SC clearance before starting the roleWorking Arrangements:Permanent, full-time position based onsite in FarnboroughTechnical leadership within a secure Defence and Security engineering environmentOpportunity to contribute to high-assurance software and embedded systems projectsBalanced focus on hands-on project delivery, technical governance and team mentorshipIf you are an experienced Software Technical Lead with expertise in RTOS, microcontrollers, secure software development and engineering mentorship, apply now to progress your career within a leading Defence and Security environment.
