Job Description SENCO - Special Educational Needs Coordinator Location: Braintree, Essex Salary: £47,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience Contract: Full-time, Permanent We are recruiting an experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a specialist SEND school in Essex.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SENCO who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs and wants to play a key role in shaping and developing SEND provision across the school.

The Role As SENCO, you will lead and continuously develop SEND provision, working closely with the Headteacher, teaching staff, families and external professionals.

Your responsibilities will include

Leading SEND provision, policy and inclusive practice across the schoolCoordinating EHCPs, assessments, annual reviews and statutory processesDeveloping personalised provision and support strategiesSupporting and training staff in effective SEND practiceWorking closely with parents, carers and external professionalsCoordinating multi-agency support including therapists, psychologists, health and social care professionalsMonitoring pupil progress and the effectiveness of SEND provisionSupporting safeguarding as Deputy Designated Safeguarding LeadSENCO Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualificationNational Award for SEN Coordination, or willingness/eligibility to complete the required SENCO qualificationStrong knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCPs and statutory requirementsExperience supporting children with a range of additional needs, including autism, SEMH, speech and language needs and complex needsExperience coordinating SEND provision and annual reviewsStrong understanding of inclusive practiceExperience working with families and multi-agency professionalsExcellent communication, organisation and leadership skillsBenefits £47,000 - £50,000 salary , depending on experiencePermanent, full-time positionOpportunity to help shape SEND provision within a specialist schoolSupportive and collaborative working environmentTraining and professional development opportunitiesOpportunity to make a genuine difference to children and young people with SENDIf you are an experienced SENCO looking for your next opportunity in Essex, we would love to hear from you.
