Overview

As a Staff Software Engineer at EFG/FACEIT, you will lead the architectural overhaul of our core matchmaking system and shape its next generation. You will design robust interfaces and abstractions that empower cross-functional teams to ship features faster. You will tackle distributed-system scale and reliability challenges, ensuring low latency for millions of players. This role offers the chance to influence the platform’s architecture at scale and drive technical standards across the team. Responsibilities

• Architect the next generation of the matchmaking engine and lead its implementation
• Create clean interfaces and high-level abstractions to enable rapid feature development
• Address distributed system scale and reliability using GCP and Kubernetes
• Drive technical standards, perform high-level code reviews, and mentor senior engineers
• Partner with cross-functional teams to reshape the platform for future growth

Key requirements

• Proven backend expertise with production-grade APIs and microservices
• Golang experience highly preferred
• Experience re-architecting legacy systems into distributed microservices
• Understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and service boundaries
• Knowledge of database locking, eventual consistency, distributed caching, and race conditions
