About the company Simtec Construction Materials Testing carries out structural testing across the UK. We support projects across the transport, construction, water, energy, aviation and civil engineering sectors, helping ensure the UK's roads and built environment remain safe and resilient.
The work covers concrete coring, non-destructive testing and structural condition surveys. Due to increase workload Simtec are looking to expand the Structures Investigations team and build on the current experience base within the business.
This role is due to exciting growth within the business and is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected and trusted company. The role This is a hands-on, site-based role undertaking structural testing on live sites and projects around the country carrying out a wide range of in-situ testing and sampling techniques.
You'll work as part of a small team and will be required to carry out specified tests and accurately recording your findings in a structured manner while maintaining compliance to Simtec and industry safety standards, reporting through the project supervisor.
You'll be trusted to manage your own testing and reporting, working across everything from routine surveys to complex, high-value structures. You'll: Carry out on-site Non Destructive Testing of bridges, buildings, floorslabs, retaining walls etc Undertake coring works to obtain core samples for Compressive testing and petrograpgic analysis Run panel testing using techniques such as Half Cell potential Cover Depth Survey Resistivity Survey Ferroscan Survey Dust sampling Carbonation Depth Survey Record accurate test data and produce clear, timely reports Visual and Delamination inspections of structural elements Carry out concrete breakouts and undertake reinforcement loss survey Undertake reinstatement works where intrusive methods have been employed Check and maintain testing equipment calibration Liaise with engineers, site managers and clients on your findings What you'll bring
Essential
Proven experience in structural Investigation CSCS card IPAF / PASMA Highways passport Full UK driving licence, no more than six points Comfortable travelling nationwide and staying away from home for multiple nights at a time Useful, not
