Where performance, reliability and integration come together. Brackley, UK In Formula 1, every area of the car must work in harmony, and Powertrain Integration plays a critical role in turning engineering ambition into on-track performance.

From gearbox and hydraulics to PU cooling systems, fuel systems, pneumatics, clutch systems and exhausts, this is a function that sits at the centre of some of the car's most important performance and reliability differentiators.

Behind that capability are engineers who combine first-principles understanding with creativity, precision and practical delivery. Engineers who can take an idea from early concept through to design, manufacture, validation and use on the car.

Engineers who collaborate across departments, challenge assumptions, and help deliver the best overall lap time solutions to the circuit. If you're motivated by complex mechanical systems, excited by the pace of Formula 1, and interested in contributing to current and future Powertrain programmes, we invite you to join our Powertrain Engineering Talent Pool.

We welcome interest from engineers at different stages of their career, from those exiting graduate schemes through to experienced Senior Engineers looking to take ownership of key technical areas. What Future Opportunities May Involve By registering your interest, you may be considered for roles with responsibilities such as: Taking technical ownership of Powertrain design projects from early concept, to testing, through to end use.

Producing schemes, designs, models and manufacturing drawings for performance, reliability, upgrade and fault-fix programmes Working across key Powertrain Integration areas, including gearbox, hydraulics, clutch, cooling systems, fuel systems, pneumatics and exhaust systems Collaborating with departments such as Build, Dyno, Test & Development, R&D, Systems, Controls, Vehicle Performance, Inspection and Quality Applying engineering calculations and first-principles thinking to support robust, right-first-time design work Working closely with in-house manufacturing teams and external suppliers to balance performance, reliability, cost and delivery Supporting validation, prove-out and feedback loops from dyno testing, servicing, race events and car build activity Collaborating with Mercedes High Performance Powertrains to identify, measure and deliver the best overall car-level solutions Developing relationships with technical partners to push boundaries and unlock new capability Contributing to longer-term capability projects that improve reliability, efficiency and engineering performance At senior or lead levels: owning key systems, setting technical direction, mentoring engineers and leading complex cross-functional projects What We Typically Look For Successful candidates for these roles often bring: A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics or a related discipline A strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and the ability to apply first-principles thinking to complex design challenges Previous experience in Formula 1, another top-level motorsport category, or a similarly high-performance engineering environment Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail and confidence working with complex, highly integrated systems A collaborative approach and the communication skills to work effectively across multiple technical departments The initiative to take ownership of projects and drive work forward independently A proactive mindset, adaptability and willingness to learn across different Powertrain specialisms The resilience and determination to deliver in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment We are also keen to hear from people who may have an in depth knowledge, experience or interest in areas such as: Gear and bearing design Mechanical design Hydraulic systems Thermodynamics and cooling systems Fuel systems, pneumatics, clutch systems or exhaust systems Engine or power unit integration Composite materials design and manufacture Additive layer design and manufacture FEA, CFD, SPH or other analysis methods CATIA V5, CATIA V6 or 3DEXPERIENCE Across all seniorities, we value individuals who are curious, collaborative and technically ambitious.

People who enjoy solving difficult engineering problems, are not afraid to ask questions, and want to keep improving both themselves and the systems they work on. Why join the talent pool? Registering your interest means: You'll be among the first to hear about upcoming Powertrain Engineering opportunities at Engineer, Senior Engineer and Lead Engineer level.

Our Talent Acquisition team can match your profile to future roles at the right level You'll stay connected with a critical engineering function that directly influences performance, reliability and car integration You may be considered for opportunities across a range of Powertrain disciplines and career levels Whether you're building your career, ready to take on greater technical ownership, or looking to lead and influence future Powertrain direction, this talent pool keeps you front of mind for future opportunities.
