Tech Lead - Java

Overview In this Tech Lead role within Version 1's Digital Data & Cloud Practice, you guide the design, development, and delivery of cloud-based software solutions for large-scale transformation projects. You'll lead technical delivery, advocate best practices, and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure scalable, secure systems.

You'll mentor teammates, transfer knowledge, and help shape the team culture. This is a chance to impact cloud modernization initiatives across public and private sectors. Pay / Benefits Quarterly Profit Share Scheme Strong Career Progression & mentorship Flexible/remote working Pension and Private Healthcare Life Assurance and financial wellbeing support Wellbeing programs and gym discounts Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain cloud-based software applications Provide technical leadership to coordinate and deliver scalable, secure solutions Work within agile delivery methodologies and manage design/estimation/user-story creation Document solutions (architecture, configuration, release, handover) and ensure knowledge transfer Collaborate with Version 1 and customer stakeholders across the software development lifecycle Communicate complex designs clearly to diverse audiences and provide coaching to the team Manage, coach, and develop junior team members and foster a positive, collaborative environment Key requirements Deep understanding of coding best practices and modern architectural patterns (microservices, message-driven architectures) Experience delivering applications with non-functional requirements in mind Experience in application/digital services design Proficiency in software engineering practices (code reviews, CI/CD, SOLID/DRY) Hands-on experience: Frontend (JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular, React, Node); Backend (Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate); Kotlin desirable Experience in estimation and sizing; integration and API design; cloud technologies; familiarity with emerging AI technologies; SC eligible Strong communication of technical designs to stakeholders Effective knowledge transfer and mentorship Collaborative and positive team leadership JavaScript/TypeScript Angular React
