Description Bkgrnd IBM Z Core Technology is responsible for designing, implementing and managing mainframe infrastructure products to support business services across the Bank. The products include: Processors (e.g., IBM z15/z16/z17 and LINUXONE) Disk Subsystems and Directors (e.g., IBM DS8900/DS8A00, IBM SAN256B-7/SAN512B-7 and GDPS Disk Replication/Safeguarded Copy/HyperSwap) Tape Subsystems (e.g., IBM TS7770/TS7780/TS4500, Dell DLm8500/DD9900 and GDDR-Tape) System Technology (e.g., z/OS, Parallel Sysplex and GDPS system/disaster recovery) Networking Technology (e.g., Unix System Services, TCP/IP and network segmentation) Logical Storage Technology (e.g., DFSMSdfp/dss/hsm/oam, catalog management and space management) Software Engineering (e.g., build/deploy of Mainframe Software Stack using SMP/E and zOSMF, and automated repeatable testing suite using Ansible) Performance Engineering (e.g., managing workloads using WLM and system performance using CPM/RMF/SMF) Open Technology (e.g., exploiting Linux on Z, such as z/CX on z/OS and z/Linux on z/VM, for edge processing components like web servers and API gateways of core applications running on mainframe and off-host servers for mainframe equipment/software products) Starting 2023, in addition to our existing Service Sustainability (now also known as License To Operate) programme covering mainly hardware and software evergreening projects for IBM Z Core Technology, there has been an increasing number of Enterprise Infrastructure programmes emerged, all requiring the collaboration of product areas described above to deliver the desired programme outcomes such as Production Like Environment (PLE), Processor Double Failure, Disk Double Failure and Tertiary Vault Modernisation.
A Technical Delivery Manager is necessary for IBM Z Core Technology, acting as both the technical coordinator for the delivery of multiple programmes and the liaison between our product teams and Project Managers from Enterprise Infrastructure and CEP IBM Z Strategy and Planning for effective programme management.
Job Descriptions The successful applicant will function as the Technical Delivery Manager for IBM Z Core Technology in the UK and carry out the following key activities: Coordinate with our product teams and bring relevant stakeholders (e.g., application teams) together to facilitate the desired programme outcomes collaboratively Provide a holistic view of ongoing programmes running simultaneously and report their progress regularly to relevant stakeholders (e.g., Project Managers from Enterprise Infrastructure, CEP IBM Z Strategy and Planning and relevant applications) Organise technical workshops and/or sessions for product teams and relevant stakeholders (e.g., application teams) to understand requirements, propose solutions and agree scope of delivery, with proper documentation Job Requirements Mainframe XP is advantageous but not mandatory.
Candidates with strong technical project management or technical delivery backgrounds from infrastructure environments Mainframe candidates will have an advantage during selection.
