Technical Manager

Overview

As Technical Manager in a well-established food manufacturer, you will lead Food Safety and Quality Management to ensure customer and regulatory compliance. You will drive external audits and HACCP/TACCP/VACCP programmes while cultivating a strong food safety culture on the production floor. You will own site compliance systems and lead continuous improvement across operations. The role offers leadership of the Technical and Quality function and exposure to audit programmes within a growing site.

Responsibilities

• Lead the sites Food Safety and Quality Management System and ensure compliance with customer, regulatory and industry standards
• Oversee technical compliance activities and manage relationships with regulatory bodies
• Drive a strong food safety culture across production
• Maintain and improve Food Safety & Quality Management System; lead external audits
• Oversee HACCP, TACCP and VACCP programmes; ensure traceability and food defence requirements are met
• Manage microbiological, environmental and quality monitoring activities
• Investigate quality issues and support root-cause analysis
• Maintain a strong presence on the production floor and liaise with operational teams to meet standards

Key requirements

• Previous experience in a Technical, Quality Assurance or Food Safety role in food manufacturing
• Experience in red meat, protein or food processing is advantageous but not essential
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRCGS and food safety legislation
• Experience managing audits, traceability systems and quality management programmes
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
• Good IT skills and flexibility to work with operational requirements
