Temporary Works Design Engineer

Role: Temporary Works Design Engineer

Location: Derby, DE21

Contract: Start ASAP, 12 month contract or potentially longer

Rate: £480 per day Umbrella

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Hours: 8am - 4pm Mon-Fri, hybrid working

In this role will be to deliver high-quality, buildable, and safe temporary works designs for Major Projects and other business units.

Key accountabilities will include:

• Reviewing temporary works design briefs and managing the allocation of work, including managing the workload for CAD Engineers, Technicians, or Operators.
• Undertaking both repetitive and complex structural engineering and geotechnical calculations.
• Verifying and delivering temporary works designs to time and budget constraints.
• Providing expert technical support and contributing to methodology workshops, buildability sessions, and VE workshops to identify innovative, cost-effective solutions.
• Ensuring design risks are fully considered, preparing Design Risk Assessments, and exercising designers' obligations under the CDM Regulations Assisting with design assurance through audits.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• A degree in a relevant engineering discipline, backed by extensive experience and thorough knowledge of engineering principles.
• Strong numerical capability with the ability to assimilate data, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and analytical software such as Autodesk and Bentley.
• Excellent communication, report writing, interpersonal, and influencing skills to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
