Underwriting Audit Manager

Overview

As an Underwriting Audit Manager, you lead a dedicated team to strengthen the underwriting controls framework within a respected London Market insurer. You partner with senior underwriting leaders to oversee the audit programme, drive continuous improvement, and ensure robust governance and regulatory alignment. This role combines leadership, risk and controls with cross-functional collaboration to elevate underwriting practices. You will shape the controls landscape and have a visible impact on governance across the business.

Pay / Benefits

• Salary up to 115,000
• Annual bonus

• Hybrid working (3 days in London office, 2 days from home)

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of three Underwriting Auditors
• Manage the underwriting audit programme across the business
• Strengthen and develop the underwriting controls framework
• Build strong relationships with Heads of Underwriting and senior stakeholders
• Present audit findings and recommendations to senior committees
• Monitor audit actions through to completion
• Oversee underwriting authorities and governance processes
• Support regulatory, compliance and wider underwriting oversight activities
• Contribute to business and operational improvement projects

Key requirements

• Previous management experience leading an Underwriting Audit or Underwriting Controls team
• Strong background in Underwriting Audit, Underwriting Controls, Underwriting Governance or Underwriting Operations
• Experience within the Lloyds and/or London Market
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to influence senior underwriting leaders and drive continuous improvement
