VAT Manager

Overview

In this VAT Manager role you lead delivery of VAT advisory services for a diverse client base, guiding junior staff and reporting to senior leadership. You’ll contribute to the growth of the VAT team and the firm’s advisory offering, spanning sectors from education to not-for-profit and large international businesses. You will handle cross-border and complex VAT issues, including property, partial exemption, and HMRC interactions. Responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of VAT advisory services to clients across sectors
• Mentor and coordinate input from junior team members
• Manage client relationships and set expectations with senior leadership
• Advise on VAT and indirect tax implications of supply chains
• Assess VAT liability and recovery for education, charities, and not-for-profit clients
• Discuss VAT implications of land, property transactions and developments
• Communicate VAT developments via blogs and social media
• Monitor budgets and fees for client engagements
• Support business development and participate in sector groups (e.g., food & drink, charities)

Key requirements

• VAT experience in accountancy practice or HMRC environment
• Experience managing a diverse VAT client portfolio
• People management experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• CTA qualification preferred but not essential
