Job Description Workshop Supervisor - PlantLocation: FleetSalary: £24 - £26 per hour (£56,000 - £61,000)Our client, who specialise in waste management, recycling and construction, are seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operation of their Plant Department.
This is a hands-on role, with an approximate 50/50 split between workshop-based technical work and supervising the team .The successful candidate will oversee 5 technicians and 2 apprentices , taking responsibility for workshop standards, workload, technical support and the development of less experienced engineers.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and support a team of 5 technicians and 2 apprenticesOrganise and manage daily workshop workloads, priorities and standardsRemain hands-on within the workshop, supporting with repairs, maintenance and fault diagnosisEnsure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standardProvide technical support and guidance to engineers and fitters when requiredTrain, mentor and develop apprentices and less experienced engineersMaintain high standards of health and safety across the workshopEnsure workshop equipment, tools and facilities are maintained to a high standardWork closely with other departments to maximise plant availabilityEnsure relevant workshop documentation and records are completed accuratelyTake ownership of the day-to-day running and performance of the workshopRequirementsProven experience within a plant, heavy equipment or workshop environmentPrevious experience supervising and managing a team of engineers, technicians or fittersStrong technical knowledge of plant and heavy equipment maintenance and repairMust be comfortable working in a 50/50 hands-on and supervisory roleStrong ability to organise workloads, manage priorities and maintain workshop standardsExcellent communication skills and confidence managing and supporting a teamGenuine willingness to train, mentor and develop apprentices and less experienced engineersStable employment history, with clear and reasonable explanations for any frequent movesStrong understanding of Health & Safety and good workshop practicesFull UK Driving LicenceRelevant technical qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent would be advantageousSalary & BenefitsSalary £24 - £26 per hour (£56,000 - £61,000)Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 17:00Saturday overtime available at time and a halfWorkplace pension schemeLife assurance28 days holiday including bank holidaysTraining and development opportunitiesFree on-site parkingBennett and Game Recruitment are a multi-disciplined technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex operating across the UK with specialist teams covering a range of industries.
