CAD Technician – Take Your Engineering Skills Into the World of Live Events!

Location: Milton Keynes

Salary: up to £45000

What if your next CAD project helped bring a major sporting event, concert or international spectacle to life?

We're working with an internationally established engineering business that transforms ambitious event concepts into incredible physical structures.

From towering stages and grandstands to bespoke temporary structures and large-scale event installations, their projects are a world away from the ordinary.

They're now looking for a CAD Technician to join their design team in Wolverton.

The exciting part? You don't need to have worked in the events industry before.

If you're confident using AutoCAD and have experience producing technical drawings for engineering, steel fabrication or construction projects, you could have exactly the skills they're looking for.

What Will Your Day Look Like?

You'll be helping to transform ambitious design concepts into practical technical drawings that allow structures to be manufactured, assembled and installed.

This includes:

  • Creating 2D technical drawings and 3D models for bespoke structures.
  • Developing designs for grandstands, stages, site layouts and temporary installations.
  • Preparing fabrication and construction drawings.
  • Producing Bills of Materials and component schedules.
  • Collaborating with engineers, project managers and construction teams.
  • Helping overcome design and installation challenges.
  • Supporting multiple projects, each with its own technical requirements.

With projects varying in size, purpose and complexity, you'll have the chance to apply your CAD skills to challenges you might never encounter in a traditional engineering environment.

What Do You Need?

We're looking for someone with:

  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D.
  • Experience producing technical engineering or construction drawings.
  • An understanding of materials, components and how structures are fabricated or assembled.
  • Experience creating Bills of Materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills.
  • A willingness to learn, adapt and take on different technical challenges.

Experience with structural steelwork, fabrication drawings or 3D CAD software would be particularly useful.

If you've worked in mechanical engineering, fabrication, structural detailing or construction, we'd welcome your application.

What's In It for You?

Make an impact: Contribute to the structures that help make major international events possible.

Escape repetitive projects: Enjoy a diverse workload where every project brings something different.

Expand your expertise: Develop specialist knowledge of temporary structures, construction methods and event engineering.

Work with experienced professionals: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across design, engineering and project delivery.

Build your career: Join an established international business offering training, development and opportunities to broaden your technical skills.

Ready to Do Something Different?

Whether you're actively looking for a new position or simply curious about applying your CAD skills in a more unusual industry, this opportunity is worth exploring.

Apply today or get in touch with Bec at Reed Engineering for a confidential conversation.

Your next design project could be a little more exciting than you think!
