Job Description LEVEL 2 QUALIFICATIONS ACCEPTABLE (previously level 3 only)Morson are recruiting CNC Machinists, initially on a 6-month contract with GKN Aerospace at the advanced composite manufacturing facility at Western Approach.

The site produces carbon fibre wing spars for major aircraft platforms including the A350 and A400M. This position is suited to CNC machinists with composite or metallic machining backgrounds, looking to work with modern CNC router and 5 axis technology.

Candidates MUST have LEVEL 2 or above qualifications - (include NVQ or City & Guilds) or apprenticeship - proof of certs will be required. NIGHTS OPTION (37.5 hours)£25.48 PAYE per hour standard rising to £26.63 PAYE per hour when training stamp approved (apprx 12 weeks)Monday Tuesday Wednesday Nights 8pm to 6am, Thursday 7pm to 4.30amDAYS OPTION (40.25 hours - average over 2 weeks)£24.52 PAYE per hour standard rising to £25.63 PAYE per hour when training stamp approved (apprx 12 weeks)Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday – 06:00–18:00Week 2: Wednesday and Thursday – 06:00–18:00 (occasionally 07:00–19:00)Note: Core Days Training Period (1–2 weeks)Monday to Friday, 07:00–15:00Overtime rates: Overtime during week - £28.74 PAYE rising to £30.03 PAYEOvertime during the weekend - £38.32 PAYE rising to £40.04 PAYEKey ResponsibilitiesManufacture and machine composite and metallic aircraft components up to 15 metresOperate CNC routers and 5?axis Zimmerman drilling/fettling gantry machinesUse Renishaw probing systems and cutter tool?setting equipmentLoad and set fixtures and tooling on CNC machineryWork to aircraft drawings, specifications and quality standardsFollow Health & Safety, COSHH and risk assessment proceduresSupport lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activitiesWork effectively within small operational teamsUndertake training in advanced composite manufacturing techniquesRequirementsLevel 2 qualification (NVQ or City & Guilds) – mandatoryExperience setting and operating CNC machinesSiemens 840D knowledge beneficial but not essentialAbility to interpret drawings and work to tight tolerancesGood communication skills and strong attention to detailAble to work night shift patternsWhat This Role OffersLong term ongoing contractWork with modern aerospace CNC machineryCompetitive pay with strong overtime ratesTraining and development opportunitiesOpportunity to contribute to major global aircraft programmes
