Job Description Copilot said: CNC Machinist (Manual & CNC) Location: Central Scotland Salary: £39,000 - £41,000 DOE Hours: Monday to Friday, Dayshift The Company An industry-leading manufacturer supplying complex forged and machined components to the aerospace, defence and energy sectors is looking to recruit an experienced CNC Machinist to join its operations team.
Working within a modern manufacturing environment, you will play a key role in producing high-integrity components for globally recognised customers. The Role The successful candidate will work across the machine shop, operating both manual and CNC machine tools to manufacture components to exact customer specifications and quality standards.
Key responsibilities include
Setting and operating manual and CNC machine tools. Interpreting engineering drawings and process sheets to determine machining requirements and setups. Measuring, marking out and machining components to specified tolerances.
Using precision measuring equipment to inspect your own work and support quality standards throughout production. Completing production and quality documentation accurately. Carrying out first-line maintenance and daily equipment checks.
Reporting machine faults or operational issues to the Team Leader. Supporting final inspection activities and ensuring customer specifications are achieved. Assisting with dispatch activities and associated paperwork when required.
Working flexibly across different areas of the machine shop to support production demands. Health, Safety & Continuous Improvement You will be expected to: Follow all safe working practices and company procedures. Use appropriate PPE at all times.
Participate in risk assessments and safe systems of work. Maintain excellent housekeeping standards. Support Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Asset Care and 6S initiatives. Contribute to continuous improvement projects and problem-solving activities.
Work towards departmental performance and quality targets. Requirements Previous experience setting and operating CNC and/or manual machine tools. Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment. Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers and gauges. Understanding of machining processes, setups and tolerances. Good numerical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of quality systems and inspection procedures.
