The opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people's lives An excellent opportunity for an experienced Team Leader, Senior Practitioner or Deputy Manager to take the next step in their career. Our client is a growing provider of supported accommodation for young people and is looking for a confident and motivated Deputy Manager to join their team in Plymouth.
Supporting young people aged 16-17, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to help ensure the service is safe, well-led and focused on achieving positive outcomes for the young people in its care. This is a hands-on management position offering the opportunity to make a genuine difference while developing your career within children's services.
The Role Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will support the effective day-to-day running of the service and deputise in their absence.
Key responsibilities will include
* Providing visible and supportive leadership to Team Leaders and Support Workers. * Promoting high standards of safeguarding, care and child-centred practice. * Supporting staff through supervision, development, team meetings and performance management. * Monitoring support plans, risk assessments, records and overall quality of practice. * Supporting audits, quality assurance and continuous service improvement. * Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns, incidents and challenging situations. * Helping young people develop independence, confidence and essential life skills. * Building strong relationships with social workers, Local Authorities, education providers and other professionals. * Supporting Ofsted readiness and maintaining high standards across the service. * Assisting with recruitment, induction, training and staff development. * Supporting staffing levels, rotas and the day-to-day operational management of the service. * Participating in the management on-call rota when required.
About You We're looking for someone who is experienced, approachable and confident in leading others. You may currently be working as a: * Deputy Manager * Team Leader * Senior Support Worker * Senior Practitioner * Children's Residential Practitioner * Supported Accommodation professional * Leaving Care or young people's services professional You'll ideally have experience working with children or young people, together with a strong understanding of safeguarding, risk management and promoting positive outcomes.
You'll also have: * A relevant Level 3 qualification in Children & Young People, Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care or equivalent. * Experience supervising or supporting other members of staff. * Experience contributing to support plans, risk assessments, audits or quality assurance. * Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills. * A commitment to promoting young people's independence, safety and wellbeing. * A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Experience within supported accommodation, Ofsted-regulated services, working with 16-17-year-olds or a Level 5 management qualification would be advantageous. However, strong candidates with transferable children's services experience are encouraged to apply.
