Pipeline Engineer

Overview

In this role you will deliver technical engineering across the full lifecycle of major pipeline projects for water networks. You will work with clients and multidisciplinary teams to produce design, rehabilitation, and assessment deliverables that extend asset life. The position focuses on solving high-stakes engineering challenges with innovative approaches and collaboration. You will contribute to proposals and reports, and engage in research partnerships with industry bodies to advance best practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical engineering across lifecycle of major pipeline projects
• Oversee material selection and structural design of buried pipelines
• Design thrust restraint and trenchless solutions
• Apply advanced pipeline analysis tools and evaluate rehabilitation options
• Lead condition and failure assessments to extend asset life
• Contribute to project proposals and high-level technical reports
• Support research initiatives with industry bodies (UKWIR and CIRIA)

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering ( Chartered or Incorporated status or pursuing registration with ICE/CIWEM)
• Proven experience across pipeline disciplines including buried pipeline design and thrust restraint
• Familiarity with rehabilitation, trenchless design, failure assessments, and piping analysis software (CAESAR II)
• Strong proposal and report-writing skills and ability to liaise with multidisciplinary stakeholders
• Proposal and report-writing

• Structural design of buried pipelines (BS EN 1295-1:2019, BS 9295:2020)
• Thrust restraint design (CIRIA C816/Report 128)
