Safeguarding Officer (Temporary) Location: Hybrid - 1 day in office based near London Bridge on a Wednesday. Rest of week from home. Contract Type: Temporary (2 months, with a view to being extended) Monday - Friday 9-5pm, on call outside these hours will include weekends £25 per call.
Hourly Rate: £20.33 Our client, a leading charity dedicated to supporting individuals affected by cancer, is seeking two passionate Safeguarding Officers to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact by ensuring the safety and well-being of adults at risk, children, and people within a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed safeguarding support, ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies across all four UK nations. Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, conducting timely triage and risk assessments.
Manage a diverse caseload, providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues, volunteers, and external partners. Contribute to internal assurance activities, including audits and quality checks, to enhance safeguarding practises.
Monitor and report on safeguarding controls, including risk indicators and training compliance. Facilitate and deliver training sessions to promote a culture of safeguarding awareness and resilience among staff and volunteers.
Engage in multi-agency collaboration, strengthening external relationships and networks to ensure comprehensive safeguarding practises. The ideal candidates will possess: A Level 3 Safeguarding qualification (or equivalent), with a willingness to obtain Level 4.
Strong applied knowledge of safeguarding legislation across children and adults within at least one UK nation. Proven experience in safeguarding triage, risk assessment, and case management in relevant settings. The ability to make sound, defensible decisions under pressure, demonstrating professional judgement.
Excellent communication skills, with a capacity to engage and inspire others around safeguarding responsibilities. A commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practise. Adecco is a disability-confident employer.
