Overview

As a Platform Engineer at Deloitte, you will design, build, and operate cloud-based platforms and pipelines to solve complex client problems. You’ll work within cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, user-friendly solutions and drive digital transformation for UK clients. You’ll engage in design discussions, contribute to live services, and stay current with new technologies. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud platforms and pipelines
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from design to deployment and maintenance
• Engage in system design discussions and provide technical insight
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver software solutions
• Write well-documented code and contribute to technical documentation
• Troubleshoot issues and ensure smooth operation of live services
• Stay up to date with latest technologies and identify adoption opportunities
• Communicate complex technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences
• Contribute to the engineering community

Key requirements

• Proven experience designing and maintaining cloud-based platforms with strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Hands-on experience with GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, VPC, IAM, Cloud Functions, GKE)
• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Deployment Manager)
• Strong background in CI/CD pipeline design and automation (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Cloud Build)
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Go)
• Experience with containerisation/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, GKE)
• Solid understanding of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments (GCP best practices)
• Familiarity with monitoring/logging/alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, GCP Operations Suite)
• Experience with version control systems (Git)
• Ability to optimize workloads for performance, cost, and reliability on GCP
• Excellent communication and collaboration
• Problem-solving and decision-making in a dynamic environment
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage dependencies
