Overview

Senior Fire Engineer at Stantec leads performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies across healthcare, education, commercial, residential, and life sciences sectors. You will provide technical leadership through all design stages, supervise fire modelling and smoke control, and ensure regulatory compliance.

You’ll act as Technical Lead on major bids and mentor junior engineers while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to advance fire safety integration. This role offers opportunities to shape best practices and grow our Fire Engineering capability within a global, people-focused firm.

Responsibilities

• Deliver performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies across a diverse portfolio
• Provide authoritative guidance through concept, detailed design, construction and handover
• Oversee fire and smoke modelling (CFD), evacuation modelling and smoke control strategies
• Ensure design solutions meet regulations, standards and quality processes
• Act as Technical Lead on major bids and complex multidisciplinary schemes
• Lead client meetings, workshops and regulatory consultations
• Champion fire-safety integration across Architecture, MEP, Structural, Transport and Project Management teams
• Contribute to growth of Fire Engineering service and bid/write proposals
• Mentor junior Fire Engineers and promote technical excellence and knowledge-sharing

Key requirements

• Experience producing fire strategies for complex buildings
• Proficient in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar modelling tools
• Strong communication skills for presenting technical matters to clients
• Experience in a consultancy environment on multidisciplinary projects
