Senior Fire Engineers

Overview

As a Senior Fire Engineer you will lead fire safety strategies for complex buildings, guiding projects from concept to handover. You will work across healthcare, education, commercial, residential, life sciences and major regeneration sectors, shaping best practice within a multidisciplinary team. You’ll model fire and smoke, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead bids and client-facing activities. This role combines technical leadership with mentoring, contributing to Stantec’s mission of building sustainable, people-focused communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on fire strategies and ensure code-compliant designs across diverse portfolios
• Oversee fire and smoke modelling (CFD), evacuation modelling and smoke control strategies
• Lead major bids and complex multidisciplinary schemes
• Engage with clients, architects, developers, and authorities; run client meetings and workshops
• Champion fire-safety integration across Architecture, MEP, Structural, Transport, Environmental and Project Management teams
• Support growth of the Fire Engineering service and contribute to fee proposals and strategic pursuits
• Mentor junior Fire Engineers and promote technical excellence and knowledge sharing
• Contribute to internal thought leadership within Stantec’s Fire Engineering community

Key requirements

• Experience producing fire strategies for complex buildings
• Proficient in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar modelling tools
• Strong communication skills for presenting technical matters to clients
• Experience in a consultancy environment on multidisciplinary projects
