Senior Principal Civil Engineer (Water)

Overview

In this role, you will lead civil engineering work within Stantec’s Water division, helping to deliver large-scale UK water projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and top clients to shape solutions from initial need through detailed design. You’ll mentor project teams, manage scoping, design, and delivery within time and budget constraints, and contribute to technical reports. This is a high-impact leadership position with exposure to iconic UK-wide water programs and a strong focus on sustainable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor project teams across water-focused projects
• Develop solutions from need to detailed design and support delivery
• Manage scoping, design within required timescales and budgets
• Produce and check technical reports and deliverables
• Collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams on large UK water projects
• Contribute to technical leadership and knowledge sharing to drive quality and consistency

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (ideally Chartered)
• Experience in the water industry (preferred)
• Knowledge of Process and MEICA disciplines (preferred)
• Understanding of environmental issues including net carbon (preferred)
• Ability to develop solutions and manage projects from concept to delivery
• Experience in scoping and design within time and budget constraints
• Strong report writing and technical review skills
• Leadership and people management
