Help shape the technology landscape of a growing defence business Are you an experienced Solution Architect who can turn complex business challenges into practical technology solutions and compelling investment proposals?

We're looking for a Solution Architect to lead solution design across enterprise applications, cyber security, operational technology (OT) and business transformation. Reporting to the Head of IM&T, you'll work closely with business stakeholders and strategic suppliers to define technology solutions, strengthen architectural governance and deliver measurable business value.

Combining architecture, business engagement and technical leadership, this role offers the opportunity to influence both technology direction and senior-level investment decisions. What you'll be doing • Act as the IM&T Solution Design Authority across projects, change initiatives and technology investments. • Develop business cases covering solution options, benefits, risks, costs and implementation approaches. • Work with stakeholders to capture requirements and translate business needs into practical technology solutions. • Produce and govern architecture and technical design documentation. • Assess the current technology landscape, identifying risks, gaps, dependencies and opportunities for improvement. • Support SAP S/4HANA governance and adoption as a member of the SAP Working Group. • Lead the technical aspects of cyber assessments and develop remediation roadmaps across IT and OT environments. • Provide architectural oversight and constructive challenge to managed service providers, vendors and delivery partners. • Establish and chair the Architecture Review Board.

What you'll bring • Proven experience as a Solution Architect in a complex enterprise environment. • A strong understanding of enterprise applications, infrastructure, integration and cyber security principles. • Experience leading the production of architecture and technical documentation, including: o High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs). o Application architecture, system context and data flow diagrams. o Integration specifications and interface documentation. o System Security Plans (SSPs) and Security Operating Procedures (SyOPs). o Technical remediation plans and as-is and to-be architecture models. • Experience documenting complex IT estates, including applications, infrastructure, supplier-owned services, integrations, dependencies and technology roadmaps. • The ability to identify architectural, operational and security gaps and turn them into clear technical recommendations and implementation plans. • Experience gathering and analysing business requirements, developing solution options and impact assessments, and producing business cases for technology investments. • Experience working with managed service providers, software vendors and delivery partners, providing technical governance and constructive challenge. • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. • Experience supporting governance forums, architecture reviews, change approval boards and investment decisions.

Desirable experience and qualifications • SAP S/4HANA architecture, integration or governance experience. • Experience in the defence, manufacturing or engineering sectors. • OT architecture and cyber security experience. • Knowledge of NIST, ISO 27001 or similar security frameworks. • Experience supporting cyber assessments, security accreditation activities and remediation programmes. • TOGAF, CISSP or equivalent professional certifications.
