Teaching Assistant

POST-16 SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT – EDGWARE £110–£120 per day | Immediate start | Full-time Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference to young people's lives beyond school? We are looking for a strong, proactive and compassionate SEN TA to join a specialist Post-16 SEN college in Edgware, supporting young adults with complex additional learning needs as they prepare for greater independence, further education, employment and adult life.

THE ROLE You will work closely with Post-16 learners, providing individual and small-group support across a highly personalised curriculum. The college focuses on developing students': Independent living skills Functional English and Maths Vocational and employability skills Communication and social skills Confidence and independence Travel and community-access skills Preparation for further college courses, supported employment and adult lifeYou may also support learners during work placements and community-based activities, making this a varied role where no two days are necessarily the same.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO: Has strong SEN experience, ideally with complex learning needs Is confident supporting young people on a 1:1 and small-group basis Is patient, calm, encouraging and consistent Can build excellent relationships with young adults Understands that Post-16 SEN support is about developing independence, not simply completing classroom tasks Is happy supporting learners with practical activities, vocational learning and life skills Can encourage students to communicate, make choices and develop confidence Has excellent safeguarding awareness Ideally has experience of autism, learning difficulties, complex needs or challenging behaviour Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service OR an Enhanced DBS certificate issued within the last 12 monthsCollege experience is desirable but NOT essential – strong SEN experience within schools, specialist settings or other relevant environments will be considered.
