HGV Technician - Permanent/Full Time Location: Romsey, Hampshire Salary: £44,000 Per Annum + £1,500 Joining Bonus Hours: Monday to Friday, 42.5 Hours Per Week, Flexible Working Between 7am and 6pm Why Apply £44,000 Annual Salary £1,500 Joining Bonus - £750 in First Month and £750 After Successful 90-Day Probation Review Monday to Friday Working - No Compulsory Saturdays Flexible Working Hours Between 7am and 6pm Optional Saturday Overtime Paid at 1.25x Hourly Rate Fully Funded HGV Driving Licence Training After Probation Structured Five-Stage Technical Training and Development Programme Specialist Training on Diagnostics, Advanced Electrics, Engines and Hydraulic Equipment Additional Training Available on Cranes, Forklifts, Gully Suckers and Alternative Fuel Vehicles Opportunities to Progress to Level 4 and Level 5 Master Technician Increased Hourly Rates with Higher Technical Accreditation Work on a Wide Range of HGVs and Specialist Commercial Vehicles Career Development Opportunities Within an Established Fleet Operation HGV Technician Role Carry out servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs on a range of HGVs and specialist commercial vehicles Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults Work on vehicles from manufacturers including Mercedes-Benz, Iveco and Ford Complete HGV Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and ensure compliance with roadworthiness standards Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs Diagnose and repair engine, braking, suspension and electrical systems Work on specialist ancillary equipment, including cranes and other commercial vehicle systems Use diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify vehicle faults Complete maintenance records and repair documentation accurately Ensure all work meets required safety, quality and workshop standards Work closely with the workshop team to maintain fleet reliability and minimise vehicle downtime HGV Technician Requirements Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or Heavy Vehicle Technician NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent preferred Candidates with Level 3 Light Vehicle qualifications and substantial HGV experience will also be considered Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy commercial vehicles Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills Experience completing HGV safety inspections and MOT preparation Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team Willingness to undertake additional technical training and development Full UK Driving Licence HGV Driving Licence is not essential, as training will be provided following successful probation Applicants must be willing to complete pre-employment DBS and financial checks How to Apply If you're interested in this HGV Technician vacancy in Romsey, please submit your CV or contact Octane Recruitment for further information.
