Senior Engineer

Our client, a highly reputable Tier 2 Civil Engineering Contractor, is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join a large industrial development project in Pontefract. The project involves the construction of a large-scale industrial premises and associated infrastructure works, with a £10m civil engineering package comprising earthworks, roads and paving, drainage, utilities, reinforced concrete structures, foundations, external works, and site-wide infrastructure.

This is a fast-paced project requiring a proactive and technically strong engineer capable of driving works safely and efficiently while supporting the wider delivery team. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate engineering activities across the project.

Manage and mentor Site Engineers and Junior Engineers. Produce and review RAMS, ITPs, inspection records, and quality documentation. Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with design specifications and project requirements.

Oversee setting out activities and provide technical support to site teams. Identify and resolve engineering issues, design queries, and construction challenges. Liaise closely with the Project Manager, subcontractors, client representatives, and design teams.

Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and environmental standards. Monitor progress against programme and assist with short-term planning. Support commercial teams with records, variations, and change management. Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements Proven experience working as a Senior Engineer on civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Strong background in roads, drainage, utilities, earthworks, reinforced concrete and external works. Experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Civil Engineering Contractor.

Ability to manage engineering teams and coordinate multiple work fronts. Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies and engineering best practice. Competent user of surveying and setting out equipment. Experience interpreting and reviewing engineering drawings and design information.

Degree, HNC or HND qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. CSCS card as a minimum, with SMSTS preferred. What's on Offer Opportunity to work on a high-profile industrial development project. Long-term project with strong potential for future work within the business.
