Workshop Supervisor

HGV CHARGEHAND / TECHNICIAN – UP TO £50k Basic + OVERTIME Reading Permanent Position Up to £50k Basic Salary 45 Hours per Week Early / Late Rotating Shifts All Overtime Paid at x1.5 JOB DESCRIPTION Are you an experienced HGV Technician looking for the next step into a senior hands-on position while still remaining heavily involved on the tools?

We are recruiting an HGV Chargehand / Technician to join a busy and established commercial vehicle operation in Reading. You will support the day-to-day running of the workshop while carrying out servicing, diagnostics and repairs yourself.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Technician who already helps supervise colleagues, allocates work or supports less experienced engineers.

Your responsibilities will include

* Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs * Supporting the day-to-day running of the workshop * Assisting with the allocation and prioritisation of workshop workloads * Providing technical support to other Technicians * Completing scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance * Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults * Identifying and rectifying vehicle defects * Preparing vehicles for MOT and statutory inspections * Ensuring maintenance documentation is completed accurately * Maintaining high standards of DVSA compliance, Health & Safety and workmanship DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE To be considered, you should ideally have: * Previous experience as an HGV Technician or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic * NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent Heavy Vehicle qualification * Strong mechanical, electrical and diagnostic skills * Good knowledge of DVSA inspection and maintenance standards * The confidence to support and guide other workshop staff * Strong organisation and communication skills * A full UK driving licence Previous Chargehand, Senior Technician, Lead Technician or supervisory experience would be advantageous, although experienced Technicians looking to take their first step into additional responsibility are also encouraged to apply.

SHIFT PATTERN 45 hours per week. The role operates on rotating early and late shifts. Exact shift times will be discussed with suitable candidates.
